Shawn Hodges

Shawn grew up in Jackson, Ms in a family full of artists. She graduated from Jackson Prep in 1996. In 2000 she graduated from MSU with a degree in graphic design. 

After a few years in marketing and ad agency jobs, she started her own freelance design business, Rooster’s Crow Graphics and Marketing. Her love of fine arts led to a side business of painting. Today, she continues her work as a graphic designer in Greenwood, with her husband and four children. Painting is incorporated into her commercial graphic design work as well as a stand alone business. Her fine art focuses on colorful landscapes and architectural portraits. Painting churches, street scenes and homes is her favorite. 

Community art is an important focus for Shawn. She served 5 years on the ArtPlace board and continues to be active in the programs offered today. 


 

BRANDICE BROWN

Brandice, a native of Greenwood, graduated with honors from the Mississippi School of the Arts, majoring in Theatre and later received her Bachelor's degree in Drama from the illustrious Spelman College. Throughout her time at both institutions and beyond, she managed to keep herself immersed in the arts. Brown has portrayed lead characters in numerous plays such as Ragtime (Sarah), In the Red and Brown Water (Momma Moja) and Once On This Island (Asaka). She was recently awarded the honor of being one of the Greenwood Commonwealth’s Top 30 Under 40! Her greatest community service accomplishment to date has been executing Greenwood’s Inaugural Black History Month Parade.

Brandice is currently a Performing Arts teacher at Threadgill Primary School and the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District’s Show Choir Director. Her passion lies in connecting people to the power of the arts, uplifting her community, and advocating for civil and human rights.


PAUL SHREIBER

Dr. Paul Schreiber (1961) holds a B.M. in Composition from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan and an M.M. and D.M.A. in Composition from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. His principle composition teachers were James Hartway, Jere Hutcheson, James Lentini and Mark Sullivan.

His works include solo, chamber and large ensemble pieces as well as electro-acoustic music. Paul’s interests include exploring the possibilities of computer-generated sound and acoustic instruments as well as the implications of form and structure in music. In recent years he has campaigned for music theory reform in schools and has been studying the role of music theory in music education degrees. Since 2003, Dr. Schreiber has worked at Mississippi Valley State University where he has taught courses in music theory, music composition, music technology and recording.


BETH MOSES

Beth Moses, a resident of Carroll County in MS is a graduate of Mississippi State in education. She enjoys five children and 8 grandchildren who she holds close to her heart. She has dabbled in oil but fell in love with acrylics and different mediums several years ago. She not only loves to display her art, but also uses it as a hobby as well as a business. She offers art lessons for children and adults.

Erin MulligaN

Erin is a teaching artist with the Mississippi Arts Commission, leading arts-integrated programs for schools and professional development for educators. She is a yoga teacher, dance educator and choreographer, and leads classes and workshops throughout the state. She’s been a core artist with ArtPlace since 2011 teaching in schools, in/outpatient programs, and summer arts intensives. She is passionate about connecting movement and mindfulness - whether in a studio, on a stage, in a classroom, or in recovery.
